Alliance Pharma buys UK rights to three Pfizer products
London (AFX) - Alliance Pharma PLC said it has expanded its dermatology portfolio by acquiring the UK rights to three products from US pharmaceutical company Pfizer.
The deal covers the oral antihistamine Atarax, the oral steroid Deltacortril and Terracortril, a topical combination steroid. Atarax and Deltacortril had combined annualised sales of around 2.8 mln stg in the UK in the 12 months to May 2006.
For each of the three brands, Alliance said it will transfer the manufacturing, reformulate the products to improve their profitability and then pay Pfizer a fee out of cashflow over the following three years.
No financial further details were released.
A statement from Allianec Pharma said sales of Atarax, which is used increasingly to treat itchy skin disorders, are growing at 11 pct per annum.
Deltacortril, used for a wide range of steroid-responsive conditions such as asthma, ulcerative colitis, rheumatoid arthritis and eczema, has a 'mature sales profile',
it added.
Terracortril, which is used by specialised burns units but has been off the UK market for some 18 months, will be relaunched by Alliance.
